Paint Ideas and Techiques:Spray Painting vs Brush and Roller

I have had many customers ask is it better to spray or to roll when it comes to painting. The basic answer is that it will depend on the job and your time frame under which you are working. I have done a few jobs that I have sprayed and it is a great way when you are doing one color and/or it is a commercial or rental property. When you are doing a home or condo you may want to us the brush and roller when you are doing multiple colors. However, you can always cut your time by spraying the primer before you roll by using the roller attachment to the paint sprayer. This has been a great time saver for me.

The only time you will(slim chance) use a brush is do edging/trim or some special paint technique. It is very important that you tape and cover all items that you do not want get paint on ( this also going to be where most of your will be spent). That is why when I spray, that the room is empty of all furniture and every fixture is removed or covered. There are times when I will not use a spray machine. Is when I am doing one of the various textures or faux paint techniques that are vary popular today. Then there is no choice in the matter. There are different new ways of doing them and there are new methods and tools being developed that make the job faster and easier to make a wall look like marble or hand sculptured art.

When you get a chance go to any home improvement center they offer classes, DVD's , books and magazines on everything to make your home unique and outstanding to everyone that enter it. Your visitors will know that you did it out of love for your family. So that the nut and bolts of it.
