Some people wait until the last minute to get their homes ready for the holiday This is going to be straight and to the point. It is possible to paint the outside of your house during the winter months if you do the following:
1. Use Paint that is designed for low temperatures, usually between 40 to 55degrees. It is usually a few dollars more but it is worth the cost. You don't want to go any lower because most paints will freeze before they dry. or start cracking and peeling before the winter is over.
2. Pick a day that the sun is out or at least partly cloudy
3. What ever side of the house you start on make sure you finish before the sun goes down.
(Especially ,if you have to prime the surface).
That includes painting the outside. If you just had a new deck put on , don't worry to much about weatherproofing for the winter. All green and brown treated wood have been weather treated before they leave the mill. It will last from 4 to 6 months.
Do use oil base paint when possible. It will take longer to dry, but holds up better in cold weather that latex (water) based paint. Just remember, it is better to wait until the spring to paint the outside. Most people don't care what the outside looks like, as long as it is warm and comfy inside.
